Arranging the farmhouse {About Divine and Human}

After two month and some days online I have decided to arrange “About Divine and Human”. I am going to create three categories. I will put the category close to the title of the post. The categories will be:

Brainny Commentary: a deep and worked about something on which the future of the universe depend.

Enhiro's Tribulations: in honor to Jules Vernes book “Tribulations of Chinaman in China” that I would read some day. Will be an adventure heroically led by Enhiro.

Lucubrations and Gadgets: Post about Science and Technology.

With the Hammer Giving: I will unholster the “toledana” (a spanish sword) to carry on on something.

About Divine and Human: Post about the blog itself.

And Seville...: Posts about my city.

Now, I will have to decide the correct categorie for each post, I do not know why I would created a weblog.

Testing Gnome-Blog

Testing Gnome-Blog

After a search for tools to publish post in blogs I have found Gnome-Blog. I am proving it to see how good it is.

At the moment I think the tool don't justify to leave the blogger web tool to publishing posts. Its very simply and some thing like the titles don't apear in his place (you can see the first title that appear with Gnome-Blog corrected). In any case there is not 1.0 tool version yet.

There is another tool for the same goal, drivel, more mature than Gnome-Blog in this moment and with blogger support in last version.

Iapetus Image From Cassini-Huygens

While I was reviewing the oficial Cassini-Huygens spacecraft web I have met this curious image from Iapetus, one of Saturn's moon.
In the image you can see a extrange geological formatio similar to a ridge. This ridge is just in ecuatorial zone of the moon. The formation is 20 Km from width and 1300 Km from length.
In future, Cassini-Huygens will fly over Iapetus again nearer and we will be able to see better images from the ridge. I hope in the future wi will be able to discover the physical phenomenom that formed the ridge.

Ubuntu Linux, First Steps

There are a lot GNU/LiNUX distributions based on Linux Kernel. The one that I handle is Debian. Another day with more time I will speak about Debian, but now of what really I want to comment on about Ubuntu LiNUX. Ubuntu is a distro sponsoriced by Canonical, a Mark Shuttleworth's company. Mark Shattleworth was the second spacial tourist. Apparently the guy is a fanatic of the Free Software.

Ubuntu is a Debian based distro, as Knoppix, Linex or Guadalinex. To understand one of the best characteristic of Ubuntu it's neccesary to know since Debian works.

There are three Debian versions, called “flavors”, the “stable”, the “testing” and “unestable” , also known as SID.

The worst of Debian is that the it is too much time between stables version. If you wanted use recently programs version you must use SID flavor. Sid is unestabe, sometimes thing fail.

When Debian accept a package in the distro, the package goes to SID flavor. After ten days, if it is all good, the package goes to testing flavor. Testing Flavor was created in order that it could turn in stable into any moment. But for Debian rigorous policy it could be have done.

Ubuntu Linux take packages from SID Debian's flavor and do stable its. And what is better they promise to extract a new version every six months. Then we will have new version every six months.

Ubuntu uses Gnome Desktop, I am sorry with kde users, as my friend “melenas”. It have the programs with I work usually, as evolution, Firefox navigator, Gaim or OpenOffice.

Like his mother distro, Ubuntu has three flavors:

main: the supporteds and maintained packages of the distro.
universe: maintained with Ubuntu, but not supporteds.
multiverse: the rest of Debian packages.

Of course, I am not going to left Debian, but Ubuntu is a good option. I recomended you if wants to start in GNU/LiNUX world.

Hiperion, a big book

Hiperion is a book that I read a long time ago. It's my wish to read it again some day. Really I am not often to reread books, some years ago I had and obssesive period of books purchase. I have not read all this yet.

Hiperion is a very addictive book. When you start to read it, you discover that is special. It hold you and forced to eat his pages as fast as you can. Once finished it you run to the book shop to the second part. That you will have warned, Hiperion is part of biggest history. There are three more books, “The falls of Hiperion”, “Endimion” and “The Rises of Endimion”. This saga is one of the most important in modern Science Fiction.

Hiperion introduce you in the environment and characters of the saga. At the beginning the author tell as the characters have arrive at their present in the book. For it change the literary record according to characters. Some of the character's history is telling in first person, making them nearby. The others are telling in third person, make them less nearby. He play with the reader mind.

He use known resources of Science Fiction, and also contributes with news, like that we can find cibernetic beings, antientropy fields in wich the time passes of extranges forms or an entity called tecno-core.

To end I only can recomended you this book to read as soon as you can.
